Gavin Roberts
Gav has been hiding for years under a flat cap in Rotherham. Once described as being impossible to dislike (a long since forgotten review from someone in Manchester) he has gone on to provide support for the likes of Lemn Sissay, Benjamin Zephaniah, Holly Mcnish, Buddy Wakefield and more. Often found armed with a notebook and pint in the dark corners of local pubs, he is passionate about words and the ways in which we use them to free both ourselves and others.

Let’s drink together again
By Gavin Roberts
I love boozers, I want beer
My adopted living room is right here
This my second home where I sup
Fill my chalice, fill my cup
Fill my glass which once lay empty
We shall drink post-pandemic pints aplenty
These pubs of ours they rise again
It’s not a matter of if, but when
So crank up the jukebox, book the band
Let’s celebrate across the land
That these our pubs the beating heart
Of folk and music, poems and art
are here to stay this is just the start
So drink with me raise a glass or two
This culture is ours it’s nothing new
It’s who we are, it’s what we do
‘Has tha tried a pint o that new brew?’
We love our pubs, we love these places
Filled with frothing ale and smiling faces
So get a round in, make a friend
And let’s drink together again.
